Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 17th April 2007

Present: Jonathan Cruickshank, Phil Collins, Bruce Newsom, Olwen Davies, Barbara Griffiths

  1. The meeting began with prayers.
  2. Apologies were received from Shirley Maunder.
  3. Minutes of meeting held on 16th January were approved and signed.
  4. Matters arising:
    • Deanery Finance Chairman: Harry Verney has agreed to take this on.
    • Charities for Deanery Responsibility Fund: Olwen has received letters of thanks from the Alzheimer's Association, the Winchester Night Shelter and the Trinity Centre for the £400 each sent to them.
  5. Deanery Pastoral Committee: the minutes of this meeting will be put to the next Deanery Synod meeting.
  6. Lango Link: David Keighley's talk in Holy Week gave a valuable insight into the political situation in Uganda and the influence of Islam in the country. Contact will be made with Mervyn Jones concerning hospitality during the Lambeth Conference 2008.
  7. Items for the Deanery Synod Agenda were agreed. Jonathan would contact Minna Bruce about a training item. Barbara would contact the General Synod Representative.
  8. A suggestion has been made that there should be a joint meeting with Alton Deanery in 2008.
  9. Date of next Deanery Standing Committee Meeting: Tuesday 25th September at 1 Shepherds Down at 3.30pm.
Dates for Deanery Synod Meetings 2007: Wednesday 23rd May at Bramdean Village Hall and Thursday 11th October at Dummer Village Hall.
