Minutes of a meeting held on Tuesday 26th September 2006

Present: Jonathan Cruickshank, Phil Collins, Shirley Maunder, Olwen Davies, Bruce Newson, Barbara Griffiths

  1. Prayers were said by Jonathan
  2. Minutes of the meeting of 14 March 2006 were approved and signed.
  3. Deanery Finance Chairman: Jonathan was receiving all the paperwork dealing with finance. The post needed to be filled. There was a possibility that a replacement may be found.
  4. Deanery Pastoral Committee: A revised consultation document will be presented to the Deanery Synod on 12 October to be taken back for discussion at PCC's and voted on at the next Deanery Synod meeting on 13 February 2007. Consultations are continuing between New Alresford and Ovington and Old Alresford and Bighton following the retirement of Raymond Tomkinson.
  5. Deanery Training: Following the Marriage Course presentation given by Alex Pease at the last Deanery Synod meeting clarification was still needed regarding whom the course was aimed at.
  6. Lango Link: An update will be given at the next Deanery Synod. It was suggested that a Deanery Candlemas service should be held on Sunday 4 February at 4.00 pm at St. John's Church Alresford which will focus on Lango.
  7. Barbara would contact John Davies to find out whether he will give a General Synod report at the next Deanery Synod meeting.
  8. Canon Peter Vargeson will speak about the Diocesan Mission Audit at the next Deanery Synod meeting.
  9. Olwen said there was £1000 of Deanery Social Responsibility funds that should be dispersed. Suggested charities are Trinity Centre, Naomi House and a project that Jane Fisher Diocesan Director of Social Responsibility might put forward.
  10. Date of 2007 Standing Committee Meetings: Tuesday 23 January , Tuesday 17 April, Tuesday 25 September at 1 Shepherds Down, Alresford at 3.30 pm.
  11. Dates for Deanery Synods 2007: Tuesday 13 February at John Pearson Hall, Wednesday 16 May and Thursday 18 October.
